Rock Steady Zulu Kings, blue S (18"P2P, 27"S2H, 29.5C2C)

I love the DIY style of old school hip hop. Using flock lettering to heat seal the name of their crew on their tops. It’s so simple but so cool. I love how basic it is. Copper Black was used quite heavily by loads of b-boys in the late 70s/early 80s. I found this photo of Ken Swift of Rock Steady Crew, performing on stage at The Venue, London in November 1982 during the New York City Rap Tour. It was the first international hip hop tour. RSC were inducted into the Zulu nation in the winter of 1982 so I suppose there’s where the name on the top came from. The photo was taken by the fab Janette Beckman who brilliantly documented early hip hop in NYC.
