It’s funny how early memories and impressions stick with you. As a football bonkers kid I used to wear footy kits or trackies all the time. Mostly full kit but sometimes I’d mix and match I’d loved it. When there was an international tournament or European match televised I’d be glued to the TV. I would see all these amazing kits and manufacturers. I remember the 82 World Cup thinking how gorgeous all the Le Coq Sportif kits were for Spain, Argentina,Cameroon. They were so cool. When I’d watch a European match I’d be intrigued why sometimes the club badge and sponsor were all so big. The team names were cool as well: St Etienne, Anderlecht, FC St Gallen, Feyenoord, Honved, Dynamo Dresden etc etc. I absolutely fell in love with massive badges and sponsors. It didn’t catch on with English teams sorry to say. They were always quite apologetic on the shirt. Doing some research on massive club badges and sponsors I found a 1980/81 Montpellier La Paillade shirt with the holy trinity: enlarged Le Coq Sportif logo, massive club badge and gigantic Geant Casino sponsor so I printed some.
