To be honest I can’t say I ever got on with Wham or George Michael when I was a kid. It was something the girls were into at school and I was into other stuff. I remember Wham being everywhere growing up. I just thought it was disposable cheesy pop music. (I had a sneeking regard for Everything She Wants). I remember my brother loved them. He used to sign along to them all the time. It’s only much later listening to Wham and George Michael that I listened to the words. They are amazing. I had no idea. There’s me thinking he was a good looking chap with a decent voice. The words alone are astonishing. The more you find out about George Michael the more you love him. I’m pleased to say I now have a love of Wham and George Michael. I treated myself to the Wham 12” megamix album recently off discogs. It came all the way from Greece and it’s amazing. Everything She Wants all 6.12 is still my favourite.
