I have a brill book called The Beautiful Game by Chris Taylor. He travels across South America experiencing the different football cultures and explaining the development of the game in each country. It’s full of amazing and mad stories. There is a really interesting chapter of football in Colombia. It details how in the 1980s different drug cartels bought into major football clubs. The heads of the cartels loved football but also found it a great way to launder money and spend money with the aim of making Colombian teams more competitive in the Copa Libertadores. Pablo Escobar who headed the Medellin cartel and was a mad football fan bankrolled his own team Atletico Nacional. His dream was achieved in 1989 when Atletico Nacional beat Paraguay’s Olimpia on penalties to win Colombia’s first ever Copa Libertadores. I saw a picture of the team wearing a shirt from the following season with a great airline sponsor so I printed some.

Hand screen printed on a green preloved vintage sweat with silver eco ink.
